The Sex Panthers

Biography

The Sex Panthers are a young, highly energetic powerhouse of rock consistently delivering entertaining and fresh performances featuring the soaring harmonies, electrifying guitar solos and chest thumping beats audiences have come to expect from this bunch of Bulli Boys.

Growing up by the beach in Bulli, on the east coast of NSW, set the perfect environment for these 4 high school mates to develop their memorable sound over the past 3 years. Their dedication to delivering tight and exhilarating performances and the constant need to challenge themselves musically ensures that this 4 piece rock combo is always on the offensive when it comes to entertainment.

The history of The Sex Panthers came about fairly conveniently. All having attended the same high school the boys naturally drifted towards each other through their love of music as the school years passed. But, although they were all friends and shared a love of music, it wasn’t until after they had all left school that The Sex Panthers were formed. In need of a band to play at a girlfriends party Aidan and Andrew pulled together some musicians to fill out a band and play the gig. After getting the taste for performing they decided to put together a more permanent band. In need of a lead guitarist, and holding strong to the belief that the band should only have members who were already known friends and unwilling to settle for nothing but the best musicians, Aidan was in contact with one of the best guitarists in the state and Ryan was quickly recruited to the team. Jeremy, widely regarded as one of the best drummers in the area, was always first choice to play drums but was unable to join because of work commitments. It wasn’t until over a year later that Jeremy would sit in on a few gigs with the boys when they were between drummers until he too was seduced by the intriguing musk that is The Sex Panthers. With Jeremy firmly sitting behind the drum kit, the band was now complete and started to make a name for themselves.

After spending some time working with esteemed Producer Steve James in late 2006 the boys independently released an 8 track EP "Gotta Get Goin" in August 2007. The response to this was phenomenal with the boys playing to an over-maximum capacity audience on the night of the release of the EP. The audience expectation for the night was very high and The Sex Panthers delivered a mind blowing performance from start to finish supported by very good friends of theirs SOLVER and Penny Hartgerink. The night was summed up best when SOLVER said simply the next day "Rockin gig last night fellas! dug it!"

Armed with an arsenal of infectious melodies and an edge made comfortable only by the surroundings of a stage The Sex Panthers are one band that you must see. With the theatrics of a stage play and chops to match musicians many years their seniors this band is gathering momentum and stunning audiences all over the East Coast of NSW. With a new EP just out and the boys already back in the studio laying down new ideas these boys are determined to make their impact on the music industry and are unwilling to stop until they do.
